The 1990 Dodge Daytona R/T Concept Car was an aerodynamically and technically sophisticated high-performance design. The 2+2 sport coupe concept had an integrated whale tail, flush side glass, a glass roof and aggressive ground effects.
Many of the design elements of the concept would appear on the 1992-1993 Daytonas including the fixed headlights, one-piece tail lamps, and cross-hair grill.
Under the hood was Chrysler’s 174 hp, sequential fuel-injection, single overhead cam and 2.2-liter engine with variable nozzle turbocharger (VNT) which provided full turbo boost in only 2.2 seconds. Performance was said to be 0-60 in 6.1 seconds, with a top speed of 140 mph.
Horsepower was 174 @ 5200 rpm and 210 @ 2400 rpm of torque with compression ratio of 8.0:1. The suspension was independent in front, with a trailing-arm in back.It featured independent front suspension with trailing arm rear suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and all-wheel drive transaxle.
The car rode on massive P275/40VR17 Goodyear experimental tires mounted on 17 X 9.5-inch cast aluminum wheels.
